On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett welcomes Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio and John Canzano from JohnCanzano.com, his regular Tuesday guests. Puck opens up the show touching in on the start of the Mariners and Orioles series and discusses the parallels between the two franchises and the risk you run into in Baltimore’s case of not investing in the team in the offseason. New Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had a rough first OTA practice open to the media. Puck can already sense the nervousness from Seahawks fans.
Jim Duquette, MLB Network radio drops by to discuss the MVP case for Cal Raleigh and the historic season he is on. Jim gives his thoughts on the call up of Cole Young and what he can provide the team. Jim also discusses the Orioles and what has led to their disaster of a season. The trade deadline is approaching and Puck brings up two names for Jim to get his thoughts on , Ryan O’Hearn of the Orioles and Josh Naylor from Arizona.
John Canzano pays his regular visit and the two right away get into the impact of AI on sports journalism. How much more of an impact will it have? There was a Monday rumor about Texas State joining the Pac-12. John gives Puck is reaction and they both agree they would be lukewarm on adding them to the conference. Puck and John get into a long discussion about the success of the Oregon State baseball program and what has led to their long dominance in the sport. John reacts to the news that the College Football Hall of Fame has lowered their win threshold down for coaches and it now makes Mike Leach eligible to go in which is obviously a no brainer. Lastly, Puck and John talk about the impact that Inside the NBA had on sports television and will it have continued success at ESPN?
Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck is begging for ESPN not to ruin Inside the NBA, the greatest sports TV show ever created.
